Santa’s first stop this Holiday Season is The National Civil War Naval Museum!
The Museum’s annual Victorian Christmas Open House offers guests free, family-friendly Holiday festivities with a unique flair — from the famous Civil War era Santa and traditional Victorian entertainment, to refreshments and one-of-a kind shopping opportunities.
This year’s Open House will take will take place over two weekends, Saturday and Sunday December 1–2 and 8–9. Thanks to generous donations from CB&T and W.C. Bradley, admission is free during this event.
Each weekend will feature Christmas Past, a program exploring the Victorian era roots of our modern Christmas season; Victorian music and carols; hospitality provided by Fountain City Coffee (Weekend 1) and 12th Street Deli (Weekend 2); guided museum tours and shopping. Performers will include regulars at the Liberty Theatre and the Springer Opera House as well as the Columbus Brass of the Schwob School of Music.
In addition, Weekend 2 will feature our Civil War era Santa, who will be on hand to talk with children and take photos. Professional photo packages are available for a fee.
Santa will also appear at the Broadway Holiday Parade, escorted by a period Naval guard, where he will ride in the parade, light the Uptown Christmas tree and greet children at the gazebo.
