Cool History
Living history events in June, July and August.

Avoid the Summer heat and see a really "cool" living history program.
  • This living history program is held inside the cool, air conditioned museum one weekend in each of the Summer months.

  • Themed programs, reenacting some famous or fascinating incident in Civil War naval history

  • Previous themes include:
    • The arrival of the Monitor in Hampton Roads, Virginia, the day before it fought the CSS Virginia (Merrimac)
    • The story of the CSS Tennessee in the aftermath of the Battle of Mobile Bay.
    • The story of the Confederate Navy commando raid to capture the USS Water Witch and many more.
    • The firing of the large naval cannon outside is always an added attraction for Cool History weekend.

Cool History is always one of the most popular events at Port Columbus. As usual, the firing of the large naval cannon outside is always an added attraction for Cool History weekend.
