We would like to first thank you for the incredible support you’ve extended to this national treasure over the years. Whether it was monetary, in-kind, or simply word-of-mouth, know that you’ve had a positive impact on your museum. We greatly appreciate you and still need your help. The National Civil War Naval Museum doesn't receive government funding for our operating budget. We depend on your support!

Here’s why you should help. By telling the stories of the navies of the Civil War, the National Civil War Naval Museum connects people with the past; giving them a better sense of place and time. The unique artifacts it holds, and the exciting stories it tells, can be found nowhere else.

The museum:

  • Sits in Columbus, GA; the second largest industrial complex in the South during the Civil War

  • Attracts visitors from all over the world, providing an economic benefit to the local community

  • Brings to life the history of the region and nation for students through field trips and classroom visits

  • Is home to the largest surviving Confederate warship, the CSS Jackson

  • Currently houses an original cutter from the USS Hartford

  • Contains the largest collection of Civil War Naval flags

  • Has a working 15,000 lb., 7 in. Brooke Rifle (cannon)

  • Provides an immersive experience for visitors below deck in the replica USS Hartford, dockside and inside the replica ironclad CSS Albermarle, and face-to-face with the full-scale replica of the USS Monitor’s turret

  • Takes great pride in its balanced perspective of the naval operations during the Civil War

Memberships, Sponsors, and Volunteers

Membership plays a vital role in supporting the Museum. Member dues are used to meet administrative and operational expenses as well as support development of new exhibits, acquire historic artifacts, provide educational experiences and create living history programs. The museum also has a need for volunteers to assist in day to day operations and special events.
